Ministry: Russia focuses on cybersecurity, digital nets at G20

MOSCOW, Nov 30 (PRIME) -- Russia’s priorities at the Group of Twenty (G20) floor are cybersecurity, sustainable development, digital infrastructure, and protection of consumers’ rights in the digital economy, Natalya Stapran, head of the multilateral economic cooperation department at the Economic Development Ministry, said on Friday.

“The digital space is one of our key priorities and initiatives. You know that the digital space of the Eurasian Economic Union is one of promising projects, but this digital space should be in tune with global trends,” Stapran said.

“This is why (the priority) is cybersecurity, e-commerce, electronic floors. In particular, one of our key initiatives at the G20 this year is protection of consumers’ rights in the digital economy.”

Russia also tries to raise the questions important for itself, including a possible exchange of expertise in tackling power effectiveness at hydro-electric power stations.

The issue of “clean” and “smart” cities, ecology, and infrastructure are also raised, Stapran said.

“For us, the G20 is a mechanism of synchronization of watches and the floor which can and should dictate rules of the future,” she said.

The G20 summit is held in Buenos Aires on Friday–Saturday.
